What is a pre wedding photoshoot?
Pre-wedding photoshoots are a trend that has been catching on for quite some time now. Pre wedding photoshoot price differs based on a lot of factors and it is a process of taking photos of a couple before they are married. It is a very important part of the wedding preparation. In fact, it is the most important part of the whole wedding preparation.
This helps you to have a visual memory of the couple and also, it provides you an opportunity to get to know each other better. It also helps to remove some of the butterflies from your stomach. The reason for this is that it will give you a chance to have an unplugged moment with your better half where you can just be yourselves and relax before the big day. You see, when two people decide to get married, they embark on a very special journey. They promise to be with each other for the rest of their lives. Therefore, it is extremely important to get to know each other as well as possible.
And what is the better way to do this than other than using pictures? By having pre-wedding photos taken, you will have a visual reminder of how the two of you look together. You will be able to re-live those wonderful memories forever. And the best part about these photos is they don’t even need to be great photos. As long as they serve the purpose of providing you with a visual memory of your loved ones, then they are perfect.
How much does a pre wedding photoshoot cost?
Naturally, the price depends on the photographer you choose. But, if you are on a budget, I can almost guarantee you will get great photos for less than RM1,000 with the right photographer. There are some factors you need to keep in mind when you are budgeting for your pre wedding shoot. It all depends how much effort the photographer is going to put into the shoot and how much the skill that he has. You will need to consider how many pictures you will need. You see, the more pictures you are going to need, the longer the session is going to take the photographer’s time. And as the more shots he takes, the more expensive the shoot is going to be.
At LuqPhotography, our rate starts as low as RM499, a very affordable and reasonable pre wedding photoshoot price. But, we only take on clients who we feel are serious about their relationship and are willing to pay for our services. So, if you are not 100% committed to your relationship, I suggest you look elsewhere. That being said, if you are ready to embark on this journey and are serious about finding a great photographer, we welcome you to contact us at any time. We are always happy to discuss your needs with you and give you our honest opinion on the sessions.

What to expect
You should come prepared with any props or themes you want to feature in your photos. For example, we suggest you bring 2-3 dozen of your favorite candies or some other kind of small treats for your “candid” shots. On the day of your session, we will give you a brief overview of the day’s activities. After that, we will ask you to change into something comfortable (if you haven’t) because we are going to have to photograph you throughout the day, depending on your session’s duration.
Don’t worry, we won’t let you wear anything uncomfortable or constricting. During the session, we will discuss and decide on the overall look and feel of your photos. Then, we will start taking photos of you and your fiancé/significant other together. Next, we will take individual photos of you (without your fiancé/significant other) to use as “candid” shots to be used as you like. We will also take a few dozen candids from various angles and interesting lighting situations. Then, it is all done! Just give us some time to make a few minor adjustments to the photos as needed and we will deliver it to you as soon as possible.
Portfolio
You can view some samples of our work by going to our portfolio page. Don’t forget to enlarge the photos so you can get an up close and personal look at each photo. There, you’ll see some of the couples we have shot, some of the wild and wacky stuff we have our clients do, some of the more traditional stuff we do (weddings and anniversaries), and some of the more artistic stuff (portraits). If you’re short on time and just want to see if we’re a good fit for each other, you may also go to our Instagram page. If you like what you see, give us a call and schedule a free consultation to discuss about it.
Where is the best pre-wedding photoshoot location?
Pre-wedding photo shoot can be done at any suitable location. But if you want to do a photoshoot outside, then it is advised to do it during the golden hours which are from sunset to sunrise. It should be some place that has plenty of natural lighting. This will give the photographer the ability to easily use flash if needed and not make you look like a guy with an 8th grade education trying to pose for a photo.
Ideally, we would like the place to be somewhat “empty” so there won’t be any distractions. We usually suggest our clients choose a local park or some other public area. Some couples like to get out of town and shoot somewhere exotic like Janda Baik but a standard pre wedding photoshoot price won’t suffice. Some people think that this is a waste of time and money, but it’s important to note that the location can set the tone for the mood of your photographs. That’s fine too but remember, the closer the better! Remember, the goal here is to get great photos, not to take a vacation. Some great locations are
- Desa Dairy Farm: For farm and country themes
- Putrajaya Lake: For water and city combo
- Putrajaya Bridges: For a nice change of pace from city locations
- KLCC: For the classic ‘city lights’ shot
- Petronas Twin Towers: For dramatic skyline portraits
- Sungai Buloh Lake: For water reflections and cityscape
- Kampung Baru Cherating: For the mix of kampung houses and blue skies
- Tanjung Bungah: For the sand dunes, the sea and the sun
Is it worth the investment of booking your pre wedding photos in Malaysia?
It can be a tough decision to make, but we can assure you it is worth it to invest in a professional photographer for your pre wedding photos. The more couples know about what they want, the more likely it is that they will enjoy the experience. Equally important, if you hire a professional photographer, there is less chance that something will go wrong and leave you with hundreds of photos you don’t want to look at. Another thing you should consider is, many times, when people book a photographer by the hour, they end up with photos that don’t have the artistic quality they were looking for. This is not the case with a pro photographer who has spent thousands of dollars on his or her equipment.
Quality over quantity
A thing to remember is, even though it may cost a little more upfront, hiring a pro photographer will save you money in the long run because you won’t have to pay him or her to redo photos that weren’t turned out the way you wanted. In fact, if anything at all goes wrong during your photo session (which is highly unlikely), the photographer will be happy to give you back your original photos and replace them with new ones free of charge. Just make sure you ask for this when you are booking your photo session and not after the fact. Some might already include this in the price of pre wedding photoshoot, and some may not.
What should you do if you and your fiancé/spouse don’t see eye to eye when it comes to the kind of photos you want? Don’t worry about it. Most likely, you will end up with photos you both will love anyway. What we suggest is, you discuss it with your photographer (or us) and see if there is some way he or she can accommodate your wishes. If there isn’t, don’t sweat it. You will probably end up with photos you both will love anyway.
5 Simple Pre Wedding Photoshoot Tips
1. Rapport
Make sure your photographer has a great rapport with your fiancé/spouse. If not, it could seriously hurt your chances of getting great photos!
2. Location with magic
Choose a location that has some “magic” about it. A location that speaks to both of you as a couple. For example, if you are a couple who likes to travel, you might choose a location that has a lot of sentimental value for both of you. Maybe it is where you first started dating or where you got engaged. If you are a couple who is really serious about your relationship, you might choose a location that has a lot of “stripped down” natural beauty about it. Maybe it is a location you have dreamed about taking your honeymoon at. The idea here is to find a location that will really speak to you as a couple and will help you connect on an emotional level.
3. Convenient location
Choose a location that is easy and convenient for the photographer to get to. If the weather is nice, the photographer should be able to set up his or her equipment outside and not have to worry about anything except posing you and making sure you are comfortable. On the other hand, if the weather is not so nice, the photographer should still be able to set up his or her stuff inside where it is warm and let you and your fiancé/spouse wear as little or as much clothing as you want.
4. Photo styles
Tell your photographer in advance what kind of photos you want. If he or she doesn’t have any idea (or a bad one), the photographer may end up shooting you in a way you don’t like and then have to start all over again.
5. Trust yourself
Be yourself! Trust me, your photographer will see through any “act” you try to put on. If you try too hard to be “cute”, “romantic” or whatever, you will probably fail and your photos will suffer as a result. Just relax and let your natural personality shine through. Your photographer will pick up on it and work with it.
What Should You Wear for Pre Wedding Photos?
For a long time, the only people who asked me what to wear for their wedding photos were grooms. Today, however, more and more women are asking me the same question. Here’s my standard answer: The most important thing you can do for your photos is to be naturally yourself. Don’t worry about what you are wearing. In fact, don’t worry about much of anything except being yourself. Your photographer will handle the rest of it. We usually suggest you wear something that is comfortable but also easy to dress up or down. Something that will go with everything from jeans and a T-shirt to a suit and tie. You yourself are paying the pre wedding photoshoot price, so make it worth it.
Keep an Eye on the Weather
If you’re doing an outdoor photography session, check the forecast and, if the weather is looking iffy, pack a little something just in case. Rain may not totally spoil the session, but it might prevent the opportunity for pictures in the space you thought you’d have. That’s not to say that it’s not beautiful, but it is worth keeping in mind. You can always improvise, and still, being prepared is better. On a really hot day, the shade and trees and the breeze and the way the sunlight filters through the leaves can make for some really beautiful pictures. You might find yourself in a beautiful forest, a meadow with wildflowers, a garden, a city park, a beach, a mountain trail, a lakeshore. Any of these places can make a great backdrop for a picture with a great weather.
How much should I spend on a pre wedding photo shoot?
You spend whatever you are comfortable with. As we have covered earlier in this article, pre wedding photoshoot price varies. You don’t necessary need to spend so much to have great photos. However, you should not spend too little either. This is a question that cannot be answered with a simple figure. It really depends on your total budget and what you are trying to achieve with the photos. For most people, a budget of RM 1,000 is enough to get high quality photos with desired results. Some people will go an extra mile to get much better result. Hence, they would consider a higher budget.
